The Frisky Fairy Reviews favorite toys, books, blogs, and other fun sex education reviews!
I am so excited to review überlube for you! This lube is a silicone lubricant that is crafted in Chicago. I would say this is the closest to “artisanal” lubricant as one could get. When I spoke with Stephen about reviewing for überlube, he described the company as the microbrewery of lube. I’m inclined to agree, as überlube is a little company with a lot of passion for their products.
I received my incredibly generous überlube swag pack in the mail and immediately fell in love. My first impression of their product is incredibly positive. Their packaging-from the shipping to the actual product- is clean and user friendly without being ostentatious. I love the fact that the bottles look as at home in my sex toy kit as they do in my gym bag and on my vanity.
überlube makes a lot of claims about their lube in regards to how it is used. They break it down and say that it can be used for Sexual Wellness as a lubricant, for Sport as an anti-chafing or chlorine protection product, and finally for Style as a finishing product on hair. I’m not normally one to believe in a “holy grail” product, but I’m a big fan of the versatility of silicone lubricants and I was excited to see if it could replace my normal products.
As a lubricant, I love überlube. I find it to be slick and smooth, without being greasy or slimy. I have had no problems with yeast infections or UTIs in the entire time I’ve used it, and my partners and I are obsessed with it. It’s wonderful both for partner play and solo play, and it leaves my skin crazy soft afterwards. As a sport product I find it to be okay. It doesn’t last as long as I would like it to, but it does work against chafing for a short workout session. I also dislike how I sweat. I love using it between my thighs when I wear a skirt, especially now that it’s summer. The Good to Go Traveler is excellent for making sure I can reapply as needed. As a style product, I love this stuff. It tames my flyaways, helps finish my hair, and leaves it soft without leaving it greasy. I also like to use überlube for random other purposes, like after I shave to ease the razor burn and ingrown hairs. I also use it as a primer for my face before putting on my makeup, and as a lotion on my hands and feet. If only this lube could cure bug bite itch it’d be my secret weapon.
As far as various sizes and their uses, I find that the 50mL bottle is and ideal size for suitcases or sex toy bags. I love that there is a pump top, which means that I don’t have to worry about the top popping open and pouring out all over my things. I still transport it in a plastic bag, as the bottle is glass. The 100mL is nice, but gets a bit cumbersome to carry around with you, so I’d recommend that for nightstands or vanities. The Good to Go Traveler pack (the white tube in the picture) is an excellent little case that works well in my handbag, or overnight bag to keep on hand wherever I go. The downside is that the Good to Go Traveler pack lid isn’t on very securely. I wish that it would screw on as opposed to just slipping on. The lid on mine keeps falling off in my bag, and the lube occasionally squirts into my bag before I can catch it.
There are a few minor downsides to überlube. I figured I would put my silicone toys in the line of fire to see if it could work with silicone toys. Unfortunately, after using it with my Tantus Echo a few times, I noticed that the Echo started to “shed” a bit. However, after cleaning and boiling the Echo, I didn’t notice any permanent damage, but I would steer clear of silicone toys when using überlube unless you have a condom handy. Finally, I didn’t notice it, but a friend said that they noticed a pretty negative taste when they ingested the überlube*. I wondered if they just had a weirdly packaged one, but they tasted it across all the bottles. You may find the taste of the tocepherol (vitamin E) a bit offputting.
I love this stuff and I think you will too! überlube gets the Frisky Fairy seal of approval. Get frisky and get yours here!
Until Next Time!

*Ingesting silicone in small quantities is safe, but I do not recommend drinking silicone lubricants.
